Announcement of the “Kikkawa Clan’s Garden Pottery and Seal Carving Experience” for fiscal year 2026
This year, we will once again be holding the “Kikkawa Clan’s Garden Pottery and Seal Carving Experience” on the fourth Saturday of each month from March to November (only the third Saturday in April)!
This workshop allows you to experience ① seal carving, ② an explanation of the Yoshikawa Historical Museum exhibits, and ③ Tada ware pottery making all at once.

Seal carving has deep ties to Iwakuni, as Dokuryu Shoeki, one of the founders of Japanese seal carving, had contact with Kikkawa Hiroyoshi, who built the Kintaikyo Bridge, and also possessed the “Seiko Yuran Shi,” which was the basis for the idea of the Kintaikyo arch bridge. Tada ware was also produced as an official kiln during the Edo period and was presented as a gift to the Shogun’s family.
You can experience seal carving and Tada ware pottery making, both related to the Kikkawa clan, at the Kikkawa Historical Museum, and a curator will also explain the current exhibits!
We look forward to your participation in the “Kikkawa Clan’s Garden Pottery and Seal Carving Experience,” where you can feel the history of Iwakuni!
